Terry Jones Presentation

Terry Jones asked the question: where should innovation start?

  • It can start anywhere in the pyramid of your company, especially at the bottom. Don’t let the middle managers quash creative ideas that flow upward.
  • You have to experiment and test your ideas or messages first. Don’t punish failure, but learn from it.
  • It’s all about team. Hire people that don’t fit in. Balance "old world views" with "new world" ones. Also, keep your team small.
  • Listen to your customers and use their ideas.
  • Look beyond what is immediately apparent.
  • Create a small business within a large one.

How do you stand out? Jones said

  • Make your product part of the customer process. Know what the customer wants. It’s all about speed, convenience, and following trends.
  • Viral videos and advertising through texting is growing. Cell phones are replacing personal computers.
  • Today it’s wireless marketing through blogs, Twitter, and Facebook.

The travel revolutionizer ended his message with "Build a digital relationship. Change something."
