The BGSU Board of Trustees has approved the tenure and promotion of Dr. Christopher Rump to associate professor. Dr. Rump is in the Department of Applied Statistics and Operations Research and has published numerous statistical modeling articles. In fact, The Wall Street Journal recently quoted Dr. Rump’s statistical prediction of whether professional golfer Tiger Woods would be able to win golf’s Grand Slam through the use of a Markov chain model. Dr. Rump received his Ph.D. in operations research from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining the faculty at BGSU in 2003, Dr. Rump was an assistant professor, Industrial Engineering, at State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo.
