College Loses Esteemed Law Professor

The College of Business is extremely saddened with the news of Dr. Brent Nicholson's passing on December 4.  Brent, an associate professor of legal studies, was an alumnus of BGSU with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration awarded in 1976.  He received his J.D. from Ohio State University in 1979 and, after practicing law for 10 years, joined our faculty in the fall of 1989.  During his career with us, Brent served in a variety of key service roles including chair of the Department of Legal Studies, director of the Entrepreneurship Academic programs, and associate dean.  In addition, he served on countless College committees over the years.  Brent won many faculty awards for service and advising from the College, as well as awards from the University and Undergraduate Student Government.

According to Dean Rodney Rogers, "Brent was passionate about his teaching, and he was focused on providing his students with a challenging and engaging learning experience. We will miss him."

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Zion United Methodist Church in Toledo, Ohio with the burial following at Fort Meigs Cemetery in Perrysburg.
