Economics Scholarships Criteria
Alumni-Faculty Scholarship awarded to an Economics major or minor on the basis of an essay contest; must also have completed at least nine hours of economics coursework (including Principles of Economics courses) and have a 3.0 GPA in economics courses as of January 1; can also be nominated for this scholarship by an economics professor. 

Essay requirements:  A four page paper based on the following topic:  "Choose a controversial policy issue that interests you, and imagine you are an economic advisor to the President, who wants your opinion on this issue.  What advice would you give him/her?

The Navin Scholarship for Public Sector Economics offered to a rising senior majoring in Economics and is based on demonstration of interest in Public sector Economics; No application necessary.
Paul Haas Book Award

awarded to a student majoring or minoring in Economics, Financial Economics or Education Integrated Social Studies with at least two Economics courses;  must also demonstrate participation in community service activities, preferably ones that provide service to others; must have a minimum of junior standing and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA overall and in economics courses.

The Amena Khatun Economics Scholarship

awarded to an undergraduate student with a declared major in economics or a specialization offered by the Economics Department; must have taken at least three economics courses, have at least a 3.3 overall GPA, and must demonstrate an interest in economics;  Financial need based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be considered, but is not required.

Book Scholarships

    • The Dolores Reynolds Book Scholarship
    • The Vimala Krishnan Book Scholarship

Book scholarships are awarded to the two Economics majors with the highest GPA and who have completed at least twelve hours of Economics course work.  No application necessary.
