Institute for Excellence in Services

This institute was created by the Department of Marketing to provide engagement, learning, and growth opportunities among industry, students, and faculty. Service excellence is important because services represent 85% of U.S. employment and 81% of our gross domestic product. Over 80% of businesses today are considered service companies.

Our mission is to advance the common pursuit of service excellence among industry, students, and faculty.  This is accomplished through.

  • Industry:  Facilitating professional development, creating networking opportunities, providing consulting/research, and increasing access to BGSU’s most talented students
  • Students: Developing service minded individuals, enhancing learning experiences, and facilitating career development
  • Faculty: Advancing research, creating opportunities for engagement, and enhancing teaching experiences

The Institute brings notable service marketing professionals to campus each year through the annual symposium.
