General Requirements
Students complete one or more writing courses, at least through English 112, an oral communication course, one or more mathematics courses, including calculus with a grade of C or higher, and the University BG Perspective program. Through BG Perspective, students select a minimum of eight courses in Natural Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Humanities and Arts, and Cultural Diversity in the United States. An international perspectives course is required as part of the Social and Behavioral Sciences or the Humanities and Arts category. See the BGSU Undergraduate Catalog for a complete description of general requirements in the BSBA and University BG Perspective program.

BSBA Admission
BSBA admission decisions will be made three times each year.  All pre-business students with 45 credit hours toward the degree are reviewed for admission.  BGSU students planning on transferring to the BSBA program must apply for College entrance and pre-business status within 45 credit hours toward the degree or, in the case that 45 or more credit hours are transferred from another institution, upon completion of 12 BGSU credit hours toward the degree.  The requirements for admission to the BSBA degree are:

  • Minimum 12 BGSU credit hours that count toward the BSBA degree, and
  • Minimum 2.5 BGSU cumulative GPA, and
  • Letter grade of C or better in ACCT 221, ECON 202, STAT 211, BA 203 and calculus (MATH 126 or 131, or both 134 and 135).

Students who do not achieve BSBA admission in the admission review are placed on conditional standing for one semester or 15 credit hours to satisfy BSBA admission requirements.

Students who do not successfully gain admission to the BSBA program will not be able to complete the BSBA degree or any of its specializations.

Business Core
Foundations in functional areas of business are expanded in the business core, and attention is given to international business and integration of functional areas to solve problems and make decisions. The business core culminates in a capstone course, BA 405, Business Policy and Strategy. Course descriptions are available in the BGSU Undergraduate Catalog.

Specializations and Electives

Students in the BSBA program select one or more of the specializations in fields ranging from accounting to supply chain management. Several specializations are specific to a discipline, such as finance or marketing, while others are interdisciplinary, such as financial economics or international business.

Students also complete non-business and free electives to reach a minimum of at least 122 credit hours. For complete degree information, contact Undergraduate Studies in Business in the College Office (room BA 253, phone (419) 372-2747) and see the BGSU Undergraduate Catalog.
