Michael Vandenbergh, Luncheon Speaker for the Environment & Business Section

Michael Vandenbergh received his B.A. from the University of North Carolina in 1983 and his J.D. from the University of Virginia in 1987.  He came to Vanderbilt, where he teaches Environmental Law, Advanced Environmental Law, and Property, after establishing himself as one of the nation's leading environmental lawyers. Prior to joining the Vanderbilt faculty in 2001, he was a partner at Latham & Watkins in Washington, D.C., practicing environmental law. Professor Vandenbergh also served as Chief of Staff of the Environmental Protection Agency from 1993-1995 and as a law clerk to Judge (now Chief Judge) Edward R. Becker of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit from 1987-1988. Professor Vandenbergh's research explores the relationship between the formal legal regulation and informal social regulation of behaviors that affect environmental quality.
