  ADVISORY COUNCIL

In 1991, the Department of Marketing established its Marketing Advisory Council, having recognized the value of bringing business practitioners from all aspects of the marketing discipline into frequent contact with both faculty and students.

GRACE HEESE
Senior Account Executive

Northern Ohio Live
2026 Murray Hill Road
Cleveland, OH 44106

Grace is a proud graduate of Bowling Green State University. At BG, she was vice president of the Women in Business Club and received her BSBA in Advertising in 1978. A "creative" before getting into Marketing Management, she has worked on both the client and agency sides of the business.

Grace began her career as an advertising copywriter in the Retail Advertising Department of Firestone Tire & Rubber. After working a few years, she returned to school full-time and graduated in the top ten percent of her class with an MBA in Marketing from Kent State University. After graduation, she worked in various advertising communications positions.

In 1987, she became Marketing Manager at Penton Media, a Cleveland-based publisher of leading business-to-business magazines. She was promoted to Group Marketing Manager with experience in both Marketing and Sales, and pioneered Penton's early Internet efforts. In 1996, she joined the start-up Internet company Cleveland.com which launched Autosuperstore.com and Cleveland.com. As Marketing Manager, she handled promotion of these sites plus website updates for clients including the Cleveland Orchestra and Great Lakes Science Center.

In 1998, she joined Wolf Group Cleveland, a major advertising and communications firm. As Account Supervisor, she serviced the Cleveland Convention & Visitors Bureau account and later Cleveland-based website clients, working closely with the iWolf Interactive Group based in Buffalo, NY. In July 2002, Grace became Senior Account Executive for Northern Ohio Live magazine which reaches an affluent, upscale audience of 160,000 Northern Ohio readers. Grace works closely with arts accounts including the Cleveland Museum of Art and Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

Grace has been active in the award-winning Cleveland Advertising Association (CAA), one of the largest advertising clubs in the country, for over 14 years. In 1999-2000, she became President of the nearly 800-member organization and received 1st place in Club Management in the National AAF Club Achievement Competition. Grace continues to serve on the CAA board and is in her fourth year as Chairperson of the CAA Advertising Hall of Fame Committee. She also serves as Website Chair for American Advertising Federation (AAF) District V with responsibility for maintaining the 5thaaf.org website.

Over the years, this “tri-alogue” has allowed for idea interchange among the three groups promoting discussion of new curricula and teaching techniques, as well as the business interview, hiring, and job expectations of both students and industry.

The Council meets twice each academic year with faculty and, for many years, has hosted Student Career Panels, which provide a forum for answering student questions, offering candid advice, and beginning networking contacts.

Providing guidance and expertise, the Council benefits both our students and our faculty.
